After creating your email template, send a test email to yourself, send the real deal, or schedule it for later.

Send a Test Email

We highly recommend sending a test email to yourself so you can verify how it will look and check your links. To send a test:

  1. On the Edit Email page, click Send Test.
  2. In the Send Test Email pane, type in the email addresses you want to send the test email to.
  3. Click Send.

The test email appears with "[TEST]" on the subject line, and a block at the top states "THIS IS A TEST EMAIL." Data fields aren't filled in.


Send an Email

Before sending the real email, you can see how many emails are being sent, how many people are opted out, a preview of the email, and the first 100 recipients. To send an email to constituents:

  1. On the Email Templates page, click Blue arrow next to the template you want to send, and click Preview.
    or
    On the Edit Email page, click Save And, and then Preview
  2. On the Preview Email page, verify that the number of emails is expected and that the email design and the recipient list look correct. Review any skipped recipients. To correct something, click Make Changes.
  3. Click Send, and then Send Now.

Email interactions are added to the timeline of each recipient. View the interaction on a constituent's timeline to see the generated email and tracking statistics.


Schedule an Email

Schedule an email template to be sent up to a year in advance. To schedule an email:

  1. On the Email Templates page, click Blue arrow next to the template you want to schedule, and click Preview.
    or
    On the Edit Email page, click Save And, and then Preview
  2. On the Preview Email page, verify that the number of emails is expected, the merge fields are populating with the expected data and that the email design and the recipient list look correct. To correct something, click Make Changes.
  3. Click Send, and then Schedule for Later.
  4. In the Schedule Email dialog box, select the Frequency you want to send the email: 
    • Select Daily and then the time of day. 
    • Select Weekly and then the day of the week and at what time.
    • Select Once and the specific date and time to send just once.
  5. Click Save And Schedule

Note: The Schedule Email dialog box will note the time zone if the user account is set to a different time zone from the device they are currently working on. Update your user account time zone to make this note disappear and ensure you are sending emails at the time you intend. See Add and Edit Users.

Scheduled emails will show a badge on the Email Templates page. Hovering over this badge will show more information about the schedule:

On the date and within 15 minutes around the time you selected, Bloomerang will use the email template's filters to build a list of recipients and send the email to them. If the filters do not return any results at the time the email is scheduled to be sent, you will receive a confirmation email stating that the mass email was not sent and will be attempted again at the next scheduled time. 


Edit or Delete an Email Schedule

  1. On the Email Templates page, click Blue arrow next to the template you want to send, and click Preview.
    or
    On the Edit Email page, click Save And, and then click Preview
  2. On the Preview Email page, click Edit or Delete Schedule.
  3. Change the schedule and click Save, or click Delete Schedule.
