Online giving forms enable your constituents to donate by credit card or EFT. Forms can receive donations from anywhere, and donations are processed in US dollars.

Tip: Use an event registration form to handle ticket sales.

To create an online giving form, follow these steps:

  1. Click Gear icon, Website Integration.

  2. Click Select on the Online Giving tile.
  3. Click New.

Design the Form—Step 1

Online donation forms are highly customizable. The options available to you are set in other areas of Bloomerang, so you may need to set up a few things before you create your online giving form. Required fields are green. Click Next to move on to Step 2, designing the success page.

Settings

  • Form Name: The name for your form. This is shown in Bloomerang and on notification emails your organization receives when a donor uses the form.
  • Transaction Processor: Choose your transaction processor.
  • Confirmation Email: Set a custom confirmation email for your donors. If you do not select a custom confirmation email, the donor receives a default confirmation email. Custom confirmation emails mark the transaction as acknowledged in your database, default confirmation emails do not. See Create an Email Template.
  • Notification Email: A notification email is sent to the email address listed in your organization settings. You can add up to 10 more email addresses by clicking Add Email, and entering the email address. Remove an email address by clicking the X. Each email address will receive the same notification email when the form is submitted.

Fund, Campaign, and Appeal

  • Fund: Pick one fund from the menu to earmark donations for it. Donors won't see this fund on the form. However, if you want donors to choose which fund they want their money to go to, click Add Fund. Select a fund and type in a display name, which the donor will see. Rearrange the order of the funds by clicking the up or down arrows, or remove a fund by clicking the X. See Funds.
  • Campaign: Select a campaign if you want funds from these donations to go to a particular campaign. See Campaigns.
  • Appeal: Select an appeal if you want funds from these donations to go to a particular appeal. See Appeals.

Recurring Donations

By default, donors can choose to make a one-time donation or a recurring donation, which is set to start the day the donor donates and to recur monthly. Give your donors more control by checking Allow Donor to Select Frequency or Allow Donor to Select Start Date.

EFT

Select the box to allow EFT donations.

True Impact

Select the box to give donors the option to pay the estimated bank fees. Donors are told how much will be added to their transaction.

Donation Levels

Donors can always type in their donation amount. To add predefined levels, click Add New Donation Level. Type an amount in the Amount field and a name in the Impact Statement field. Rearrange the order of the donation levels by clicking the up or down arrows, or remove a donation level by clicking the X.

Tip: Use descriptive, action-oriented names, like "Feed a puppy for one year," for the impact statements. This is more effective than traditional giving levels, like "Gold" and "Bronze."

Custom Fields

To gather more information about the donor, add constituent or transaction custom fields. Click Add Constituent Field or Add Transaction Field. Choose the custom field and type in a display name. Rearrange the order of the fields by clicking the up or down arrows, or remove a field by clicking the X. See Custom Field Basics.

Tip: Be judicious about how many custom fields you place on the form. Donors are more likely to fill out three or fewer fields.

Required custom fields are required on the form.

Design the Success Page—Step 2

The success page is what your constituent sees after he has successfully donated. This is an excellent opportunity to thank the donor and engage him further. You can design the page in Bloomerang or use your own success page.

To design a success page in Bloomerang:

  1. Click Build in Bloomerang.
  2. Edit the title and message, if desired.
  3. Select which social media buttons you want on the page (described below). If needed, add your organization's social media information (this also updates your organization settings).
    • Tweet button: Adds the Prefill Tweet Text message and a link to your form to the constituent's Twitter timeline. The donor can personalize the message.

Tip: Want to add your own message? You certainly can! Make it sound like it is coming from the constituent (not your organization) and include a call to action. Tweets are limited to 120 characters, including the 22-character URL.

    • Follow button: The constituent now follows your organization's Twitter account.
    • Share button: Shares your form's page to the donor's timeline, groups, or friends. The donor can add a personalized message.
    • Like button: Adds a Like to your organization's Facebook page.
  4. Click Save and Preview.

To use your own success page:

  1. Click Redirect to URL.
  2. Type in the URL for your success page.
  3. Click Save and Preview.

Preview Form

On the Display page, preview the online donation form and the success page and publish your form.

  1. Click Form and check that your form looks correct; click Editto make changes.

Tip: To make changes to the CSS, HTML, or JavaScript, click Self-Host Form. See Create, Edit, and Revert Self-Hosted Forms for more details.
