Two-factor authentication (2FA) is an optional security feature that can be added to your Bloomerang database. Add it to provide an extra layer of protection to your user account and constituent data.

  1. Activating Two-Factor Authentication
  2. Using Two-Factor Authentication
  3. Deactivating Two-Factor Authentication

Activating Two-Factor Authentication

Administrator users can enable 2FA. Once enabled, 2FA will be required for all users of the database. To enable, follow these steps:

  1. Click Gear icon, View All Settings.
  2. In the My Organization tile, click Edit to open the Organization Settings page.
  3. Under the Security section, click Turn on.
  4. Click Save.

Using Two-Factor Authentication

With 2FA enabled, each user will be required to complete the following steps when logging in:

  1. Enter Username and Password.
  2. Click Log In.
    • An email with a verification code is sent to the email address associated with the user account. The email is sent from no-reply@bloomerang-mail.com.

Tip: Check the spam folder and/or any filtered folders that may be set up if the email does not arrive in the inbox. Click Send another on the verification screen if the email does not arrive at all. Sending a new verification code will invalidate any previous codes.

  3. Enter the Verification Code and click Verify. Optionally, click Trusted device, don’t ask again for 30 days to disable the verification code requirement for 30 days when logging in with the same device.

Note: Clicking Trusted device, don’t ask again for 30 days will store a cookie on your current device. Logging in with a different device or browser during this time will require a new verification code.

You can attempt to enter a validation code up to 6 times. The 6th incorrect attempt will result in being temporarily locked out of an account, however.

A validation code is good for a limited time. If you receive an error message when you attempt to enter it, you can resend a code to your inbox. The new code will invalidate the old code.

Deactivating Two-Factor Authentication

Due to the added security benefits of enabling 2FA, it is recommended to use this feature. However, 2FA can be disabled with the following steps:

  1. Click Gear icon, View All Settings.
  2. In the My Organization tile, click Edit to open the Organization Settings page.
  3. Under the Security section, click Turn off.
  4. Click Save.
