This article describes how to edit an email template's structure and settings in Bloomerang. Email templates created prior to November 11, 2019, use Bloomerang’s legacy editor. For help editing these email templates, refer to Edit an Email - HDV (Legacy Editor)

After you've created an email template, use the Design tab on the Edit Email page to change the:

  1. Settings
  2. Structure

Settings

Edit general style settings that apply to your entire email template from the Settings tab.

Click the Settings tab to adjust:

  • Content Width Area
  • Background Color
  • Content area background-color
  • Default Font
  • Link Color

Structure

Email templates use rows to help you easily structure and edit content.  Rows are horizontal placeholders that contain one to four columns of different widths. Use rows to layout your content and place different types of content side by side. Your starter design already contains rows with columns of content blocks, such as images, text, and buttons. You can add, edit and remove rows and columns to create the format and look you want.

Add Rows

  1. Click the Rows tab
  2. Click on the type of row you want to add.
  3. Drag the row to the desired location on your template and drop it.

Edit, Move, Duplicate and Delete Rows

To edit a row:

  1. Hover over the row you want to edit.
  2. Click anywhere in the row to bring up row properties in the content properties panel.
  3. Edit the row properties as needed.

To move a row:

  1. Hover over the row you want to move.
  2. Click move-block.
  3. Drag the row to the desired location on your template and drop it.

To delete or duplicate a row:

  1. Hover over the row you want to remove or duplicate.
  2. Click anywhere in the row.
  3. Click delete-block to delete the row or click clone-blockto duplicate the row

Click these icons in the row properties panel.

Add, Edit, or Delete Columns in Row

To add a column in a row:

  1. Hover over the row you want to edit.
  2. Click anywhere in the row to bring up row properties in the content properties panel.
  3. Scroll to the Customize Columns section and click Add new.

A new column is always added on the right, with a default size of 2. Other columns will automatically reduce to accommodate.  

To edit a column: 

  1. Access the Customize Columns section via the steps above.
  2. Click on the column you want to edit.
  3. Change the background color in the Column background section
  4. Adjust the padding for all sides in the Padding section, or click More options to adjust the padding of each side of the column individually.
  5. Adjust the border for all sides in the Border section, or click More options to adjust the border of each side of the column individually. You can adjust the border style, size, and color.

Resize columns in relation to each other by clicking and dragging the divider icon between columns.

To delete a column:

  1. Access the Customize Columns section via the steps above.
  2. Click on the column you want to delete.
  3. Click Delete.
